    Description

Presented is a superb quality Irish sterling silver four handle cup. This piece was made by T. Weir & Sons and dates to 1932. The cup is done in an appealing modernist style, very sleek and clean with a sort of futuristic feel. The cup has a presentation, with the initials WLM over VM with the inscription "From the Burke Family, Skibbereen" between. This piece is polished to a bright mirror shine, spotlessly clean inside and out.
We have been told that this piece is fashioned after an antique wooden mether cup, a drinking-vessel of Celtic origin used in Ireland to drink mead.
This piece is in great overall condition. There is a small ding to one of the legs, which is hard to notice. There are no splits, no major dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is hallmarked on the side with the seated Hibernia mark for sterling silver, the harp crowned for the city of Dublin, the date letter Q for 1932 the maker's mark T.W. for T. Weir & Sons and the name Weir & Sons spelled out as well.
This piece stands about 8 1/8 inches tall.
This piece weighs 946 grams or 33.4 regular ounces.
