    Description

I AM PLEASED TO OFFER THESE BEAUTIFUL VERY HIGH QUALITY DUKE CITY
    STROPS!
When we shave with our straight razors, the edge gets taken out of alignment. Stropping between shaves realigns that edge to keep it keen, and helps extend the time between honing.
This is a 3" wide high quality hand crafted oil tanned cowhide strop in folklore color. It has a generous total length of 25" including the hardware. The leather belt is 21" long. The strop has a one piece backing belt that offers a choice of polypro webbing, and 100% cotton.
Since some people prefer a synthetic backing and others prefer natural cotton, I decided to add both to my strops and give the user a choice. This leather is slightly firm but also soft & supple with a nice tight grain. It is an excellent piece of leather! This leather has a little more draw then my other strops.
The folklore is a soft rich brown cowhide pull-up leather that shows the distressed light tan markings when you bend or manipulate it. The end cap pieces are embossed pebble grain veg tan cowhide leather.
Since this is a hobby & passion I love, I am making & selling these strops at only a small mark-up over my cost of making and selling them.
I wanted to give people who enjoy straight razor shaving an opportunity to purchase a top of the line strop for a fair affordable & reasonable price. I make these beautiful old school hanging strops by hand in the "Duke City" Albuquerque New Mexico. They are made with the highest quality leather and hardware. If cared for these strops are made to easily last a lifetime.
The cheap priced strops you see online are made with what is called Genuine leather. It is just a marketing term used to make people think they are getting something good. The bottom layer of the hide is the weakest and lowest grade leather. It is considered garbage leather in the industry, and to leather craftsman. This weak low grade bottom layer of the hide is sold to places who process it and sell it as "Genuine leather." Just something to think about when purchasing a strop or any leather product. The feeling of stropping on a poor quality strop compared to a high quality one is night & day.
The strop you receive may not be the exact one shown, but it will be similar because it was cut from the same piece of the hide. There may be small cosmetic blemishes or marks which is perfectly normal with leather. Any small imperfections are merely cosmetic, I make sure every strop is perfectly smooth to the touch, and is an excellent surface to strop a straight razor.
I  include 2 hooks for hanging and using the strop. One hook to hang the strop, and a second hook you can use to hold the top leather belt when accessing the poly part of the backing belt. To access the cotton part of the backing you simply rotate the strop over with the swivel.
This listing is for the folklore oil tanned leather. If you would like to see other strops available please see my listings for those options.
