    Description

Presented is a very nice set of English fish knives. This set dates to 1893. The blades of the knives are made from heavy sterling silver. The blades have a threaded edge along the top. All the knives are engraved with 'M du S' in elegant script. The handles of the knives are made of ox-bone, with attractive natural graining patterns throughout. The handles are a very mellow and aged white, with naturally occurring variations in color. This is a lovely set of antique silver pieces, and would give a distinguished look and feel to any table setting.
Each of the knives is hallmarked on the blade with the lion passant for sterling silver, the crown for the city of Sheffield, the date letter a for 1893, and the maker's mark for William Gibson & John Lawrence Langman.
This set is in great overall condition. The handles all have a vertical crack, as is to be expected considering age and material.  The crack is on the sides of the handles, and don't really show when set on the table. This does not effect the useability or structural integrity of the knives whatsoever. Otherwise there are no problems, no chips, no separations between blade and handle, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each knife is approximately 8 3/4 inches long.
This set of knives weighs 367 grams or 12.9 ounces total. We can't weigh the silver portion separately from the handles, but given that the handles are made from a fairly light material, a considerable amount of this weight is sterling silver.
