    Description

Presented is a wonderful English Georgian sterling silver teapot or coffee pot. This piece dates to 1743. The pot is done in a beautiful round bodied form, with a rattan wrapped handle. The pot has a presentation reading "Norton LTT Open Singles 1885" indicating it was given as a trophy for this Lawn Tennis Tournament in 1885.
This piece is in good overall condition. As the photo points out, there is an old solder repair to the side of the pot. There is also an old patch/repair surrounding the lower junction of the handle, on the body, though this is hard to notice unless you look at it from the inside. There are no splits, no leaks, no major dents, no monogram removals, and no other repairs.
This piece is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter h for 1743, and a maker's mark that is partially worn but looks like FP for Francis Pages. All four of these hallmarks are also stamped on the underside of the lid.
The pot stands about 8 1/2 inches tall.
The pot weighs 472 grams or 16.6 regular ounces.
