Description

Excelsior STANLEY # 15 Block Plane Type 12 1899-1900
This is a nice old plane. It is the the longer of the Stanley "Excelsior" family. The bottom is just at 7 inches long as compared to 6 1/4 for the shorter ones. The metal is not damaged and looks to retain most of the japanning. The throat plate is very tight but does move. The cutter has plenty of length and the "Arched" trademark. This one has the 4 patent dates on the lateral adjuster and the patent date on the throat adjuster.  The lever cap looks OK but the Japanning is worn on the top. It looks really nice and you should be able to see that in the pictures. These planes suffer from cracks around the throat and this one is fine.
The very last of the "Hump Back" excelsior planes had the "Handy Feature" in the sides and they were not made for long.
The shipping cost includes insurance.
I try to describe the old things I sell but they are used and being sold “AS IS”.
Please look at the pictures and read my return policy.

If you are interested in old tools and live in the northwest please consider joining the Pacific Northwest Tool Collectors for only .00 a year. If you are not lucky enough to live out here, you can check into M-WTCA, Mid-West Tool Collectors Assn. They are almost nation wide and the publications are worth the .00 annual membership fee. There is also the PAST group in California.
I have tried to show all this in the pictures but, should you have any questions, ask me. Please give me a little time to respond. I want you to know what you are buying and will do my best to help. I do make mistakes and have overlooked things in the past. The plane is being sold “AS IS” so, look carefully and let me know if you want more pictures or information.
I am always willing to combine shipments to save money. Shipping costs sometimes include insurance and a modest packing and handling charge. Please let me know you will be bidding on more than one item. Thanks.
I have shipped to New Zealand before and will certainly be able to do that again. I just can't include that in the shipping options. Shipping outside the USA will be more and depend on destination and weight. PLEASE READ THE SHIPPING INFO FOR PAYMENT AND SHIPPING OUTSIDE THE USA AND WAIT FOR MY INVOICE. I charge $ 5.00 handling and packing for shipments outside the USA. There is extra paperwork, an additional 10 miles of driving and a wait in line of up to 45 minutes at the Post Office.
