Vintage Stanley No. 9 1/2 Block Plane, L. Bailey's Patent, c1888-1894

Description

This is an early Stanley No. 9 1/4 block plane in excellent condition.
This plane is in excellent condition and it has been lightly cleaned to a level where a craftsman would be proud to have it on the bench. I don't like to overclean or polish planes and like to leave the history in place.  There is no rust, decay or pitting, just a few dings and some owner markings on the left side.
Based on my limited research, I would date this plane from about 1888 to 1894 or so, a type 8...ish.  I've included images of the makers marks and logo's for your information.  This example has the lateral adjustment lever with 4 patent dates as well as the adjustable throat.
I disassembled the plane and checked each part for damage or issues (none).  All parts are cleaned and burrs filed or removed where necessary.  Threads are oiled, any rust is removed and the plane is waxed and re-assembled.  The result is a beautiful plane ready for use and in original clean condition.
The iron is sharp and image #1 and #2 show me taking some fine shavings from cherry.  The japanning is about 75% intact with some small nicks at the mouth, heel and toe and the back of the lever cap.
